From my understanding, you can utilise others' work like
this, but totally agree that seeking permission would be
the nice thing to do - especially so if you know them, like
and want to promote their work, etc, etc. I have seen
tatoos where they are 'extracts' of a CD albumn cover, but
due to it being 'redrawn' by the tatooist, then the
original is only an inspiration, expecially since it will
not be an exact copy and even minor variances would make it
a 'different work', as has been discussed here previously
in regard to character copyright.

They don't all scar, but yes, take 3-4 treatments on
average under the laser and costs far more than getting it
applied. A rough guide for a tatoo of ~$300 in value,
you'd be looking about $1200 to get it removed (did a
little research on dermal lasers for other uses). Best bet
is to assume it will be permanent and make a good choice!
Most guys I have spoken with who have 'body art', say that
even after only 5 years they are bored of it and prefer
that they didn't have it, except it costs too much to
remove. From what I was reading somewhere, it has been
suggested that trying to draw attention to oneself via body
art (excessive piecings, tatooing, dermal implants, etc) is
a sign of low self-esteem and trying to improve one's worth
by 'adding value'.
Great thing about being/knowing airbrush artists is you can
do / redo a temporary tatoo for that special occasion and
change it every other week!

It is quite amazing what people get used to and don't even
'notice' after a while. If you have a tatoo (or want one),
you will tend to notice if others have them. Same with
pimples, scars, baldness, etc, etc. If you don't have this
'affliction', it is amazing what you don't notice. Ever
had a friend comment on someone you were both talking with
a few minutes before "did you see the ..." and you go "no"
- the feature held sway for your friend, but meant nothing
to you, so you didn't notice it.
I use this explanation for how girls manage to put up with
'us ugly guys'. They don't suffer the same 'issues' we do,
so they don't fuss over them. Similar our afflictions are
different from those most girls suffer, hence we don't fuss
over their 'imperfections' either.
Scrapper, Black Dragon, philosophy is fine, but it won't
help you make friends, etc, unless you do more than think
and talk about it!
