I would prefer that one... Anyway, body-art is not under mi likings (does
that word exist?)
About the atention-driving... well... I kinda disagree on that one. I mean,
I consider body-art as any other art. People may like it or not, people may
think an specific drawing/painting is wonderfull, or disgusting, but the real
feeling of it, the real intention resides on the artist or performer...
(Artist would be the one who paints the body, performer would be the one who wears
it).
In certain aspects, everything one person does is related to that person's
self-steem, and every act has some degree of atention-drawing purpose... Art
is just one of those activities...
Tattooing and boy-art in general can be used for more then just self
expression.
Both my parents are very heavily tattooed and each tattoo has a different
meaning. My father has four cardinals on his right arm, two adults and two
chicks, they refresent himself, my mother, myself and my brother. My mother has
portraits of my father my brother and me across her upper chest. She is
also working on a sleeve (a tattoo encircling the arm) of southwestern desert
scenes that represents what she loves about the desert.
Both my parents use there tattoos as a kind of 'road-map'' of their life.
They can point to any tattoo and name where they were and what there life was
like when they got it.
My current tattoo (the only one I have) I see not only as a beautiful piece
of artwork, but as a symbol of strength and endurance that I can use to
encourage me during troubling times.
Some people use tattoos to commemorate loved ones they have or have lost.
IMO people who use tattoos only as a way to 'go against the system' are
making a grave mistake that they will regret for the rest of there life.
Tattoos are a very potent means of self-expression, but the end result has
to be something that is important to you, and not to anyone else.
I have been meaning to get a tattoo that represents my love of the Furry
community, both in terms of artwork and the good times I've had and friends I've
made. I chose Onyx because Jim is one of the greatest artists in the
community and one of, if not my number one favorite artist in general. If I go
through with this whenever I see it or think about it I will remember all the
wonderful things being a part of this community has brought me.
It took me five years to decide on the tattoo I have now and I have never
regretted it for all the years I've had it. It means a great deal to me, just
as other tattoos are meaningful to the people who wear them.
