connection dropped the last two times I tried to post my response.

Are you sure about her abilities? We haven't actually _seen_
anything yet, so it could be speculation... ;P
And Onika isn't an alien from outer space. She's just from a
different reality. Think of it this way:
Let's say there's a movie screen, and on that screen is a movie.
You're actually IN the movie, so everything that occurs in that movie
can be witnessed by you. This is your "reality". There are things
that are happening outside the perimeter of the movie screen, but
since you're only able to experience the contents of that movie, you
have no knowledge of those extra events.
Let's say there are also 50 other films playing on that same movie
screen, all at the same time. Some of them bear a resemblance to one
another, and some are completely different and unrelated. Alas, you
cannot view these other films, because you are only in the ONE film.
Likewise, participants in the other films can only see their films as
well, and everyone is unaware of the other films playing at the same
time and in the same space as their own.
But suddenly! a hole develops in your film, and for a brief few
seconds, you might be able to witness something that just doesn't
make any sense to you (a portion of one of the other films). Maybe
you see an unnatural creature, or a house that shouldn't be there.
Sure, those things SHOULDN'T be there, in your reality, but they
exist purposefully in another reality.
The only way for you to be able to see all these films
simultaneously would be to exist outside of the movie screen, unable
to take part in the films, but able to view them all from afar.
Onika's people (and Treska's, etcetera) exist in the same place and
time as our world, or the Trio's world. They just exist in a
different version of it. And since that reality is different from,
say, the Trio's, they can coexist without one knowing about the
other. The only way Onika's people can bear witness to these other
realities is by using those strange black stones which transport them
to other places. Onika used one, which was destroyed by the person
chasing her, and so she is stuck in the Skunkworks reality. Treska
was able to find a similar stone, which brought her to the same
reality (though a fair distance away from Onika), but Onika cannot
use that stone to return home because it isn't the same one she used
to get to her present reality. That same stone would take Treska
back to _her_ reality, but it might take Onika someplace very far
away and strange.
Hope I didn't lose anyone with that explanation!
