Only if the artist or author isn't skilled to show any difference. I've seen a LOT of artists draw different species that all look the same. WTF? And don't even get me going on anime. I swear to God I hate that crap. Nothing like artistic neutering, eh?

Well, Des, it depends on which anime you're watching. I'm not going to defend the likes of "Pokemon." However, the well-drawn stuff ("Cowboy Bebop", "Paranoia Agent", "Wings of Honneamise: Royal Space Force", etc.) looks EXCELLENT.

All anime is not created equal. Most stuff these days is really good art wise. At least the stuff for older audiences! I just finished watching "Kiddy grade" a very nice space opera type show. Great artwork and a great story.
