Furry Fandom 102: Intermediate

Course 15 Lesson 6: Fursecution and Furry Drama

(Overview)
At least a decent vocal section of the Furries will become righteously
indignant over any insult against them or their fandom, whether expressed
or implied. Reactions will often range from threats to boycott a product
or company, to threats of violence, to crying about how horrible everybody
treats them, and many other varied responses. As a general rule, it's
usually possible to get a completely outrageous and unrealistic response
with minimal effort.

Today's lesson includes an exercise. The task: To stir up furry drama
through the use of what they call "Fursecution". Take any odd aspect of
the fandom, and blow it out of proportion to paint the entire fandom with
the odd aspect, or even just imply that you are. Present this somewhere,
and watch the results.

There are two diverging routes you can take. The first is the "Stir the
pot" route. Intentionally make the claims as outrageous as possible. Make
use of cussing and insults against everything the furries hold dear. Sit
back and watch the sparks fly. However, this route will only score a
maximum of 89% for this assignment.

The second route is the "Subtle" route. Take claims and information that
is only relatively questionable, avoid swearing and direct insults. The
more outrageous the responses you can acquire from this type of prodding,
the more material you have for future Fursecution, as you can later then
point out how they responded to such a minor thing. Since enough furries
(like almost any people, from gang members to theater majors) are
overly-sensitive enough to blow up at any perceived threat, you will find
that responses will often be quite entertaining.

This course and lesson will delve into the history of furry response
curves, as well as some of the methods used to rile them up. Posting of
this lesson overview in response to a prior riling thread will often work
as well, but is not recommended. If used as the poking medium for the
assignment, the maximum score will be restricted to 75% of the total value.

Take some time to review the lesson material, and scope out furry boards on
the internet. Archived messages are an excellent source of indicators of
what will rile up the furries, so be sure to do plenty of research in those.
