This is an interesting topic, and I do encourage a civil debate.
But could the parties involved please add the letters "OT" to the
subject header, so that those not interested in this conversation
won't have to try to read through all of this? Thanks, man.
Otherwise, continue on.
On a related note, I've mentioned both evolution and religion in
the aforementioned timeline. Generally speaking, the societies do
allow religion, to an extent, provided no one tries to claim
dominance or superiority over another religion.
Personally, I'm an atheist. Never believed in the religious
stuff. But I've got no beef with those that do, because I think we
all need something we can grasp that helps explain things and provide
us with a guide to living right. One fellow might believe in
Christianity, one might believe in Buddhism, hey, whatever gets them
through the day, right? As long as there's no scuffles going on in
the streets, then all is well.
In the girl's world (many, many years ago, mind you), there were a
lot of wars being fought over religion, and it was therefore decided
to curb the religious zeal. Now, their science has proven beyond a
doubt that the sentient species did indeed come from ancient four-
legged species of a similar nature. But no one knows what caused
that initial mutation (if it was indeed that), and, as such, that is
where religion comes into play. Some of the people on that planet
believe in one kind of god, while others may believe in another.
Hopefully, the details of these events will help you, the reader,
build a more concrete image of their world in your head.
