Something just came to mind. At least some furries have things like a
heat cycle and early physical maturity to deal with. It's possible
that some species might favor harems by instinctive inclination and
some might find it better to have shorter marriages.
So might not the culture that the girls are in have different options
regarding the duration of a marriage?
Option one- The marriage lasts long enough for the children to take
care of themselves at least around the house.
Option two- The marriage lasts until the children actually leave the
house.
Option three- The couple forms a lifetime committal to each other.
My theory is that most people would pick option one the first time.
Many females would demand option two for the next pregnancy. Then as
furries grow more settled in their lives they would want a lifetime
companion or two depending on instinctive inclination and personal
choice. So might not the culture have different forms of official
marriages: A friendship bond, a caregiver bond, or a lifemate bond?
More options would greatly reduce the burden on the court system with
regard to dealing with devorce cases and how long parental
responsibility lasts and who bares the burden of it. The couple will
be making that choice when they pick the kind of marriage aggreement
they want to bind themselves to.
