It's a lot more work than you might not want to deal with.  Things like how long you want it,having a story to run that long, storyboarding, voice recording (if it's a talkie),  and a number of other things.  Lets' not forget the average animation runs at 24 frames a second, that's 24 drawings per second.  If you have multiple characters and backgrounds, more drawings and taking the time to do this.  You can see this is turning into a heck of a workload if it's just you and maybe another warm body who was "volunteered" for this project just for 5 minutes worth.

I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into animation either,
