Since one of the ongoing topics is what everyday items and services would need to change in an Anthro society, I felt that this design earns a showing:

It's work of my own hand, and obviously inspired by Gurney's 'Dinotopia' series.? And while not Anthro, it gives an idea of how a chair could be redesigned to fit something other then human physiology.?

Subject: [SkunkworksAMA] Adaptation of items (Furgonomics)
I have a mild disagreement? on the additional shielding because of the shedding fur.? Assuming with polite society comes civilized bathing and grooming habits (furry con-goers asside :D ) public shedding would likely be viewed with distain equivalant to the human view on dandruf or peeling sunburns.?
?
I expect most folk would brush themselves (or each other) thoroughly at least once a day, twice?or more in the spring and fall shedding seasons.? the only people that would be shedding outside of grooming tools publicly would be the equivalent of the creepy guy that doean't bathe, the addict with the grossly greasy unwashed hair, and the homeless folk without access to bathing facilities.
?
public seating would probably be modular to allow for species of different size, just like public busses in a lot of major cirites have sections where the seats fold up and away for bike, wheelchairs and baby strollers, so would a furry world have places where 'medium' seats fold up and away to reveal 'large' seats, with sections of 'small' seats in areas where the large seats won't fit on the vehicle.
?
probly with incremental prices too, instead of child, student, adult and senior tickets, they'd? have fares for small, medium, large and 'drawn by Ken Sample'
?
with the tails, I don't think a tail hole in the chair would do it.? ergonomic chairs have not only backrests but also arm wrests, wrist rests and in some carse foot or shin rests.? I expect quality furniture would also have tail rests.
?
Hats, if any, would have to accomodate a wide variety of ear shapes and locations.? Most anthros have thier ears on top of their heads, not low on the side, lower than the eyes.
?
Speaking of eyes, corrective lenses would need straps since they'd have nowhere convenient for the arms of glasses to hook, or modified pince-nez or monocles would be prevailent.
?
There might also be modified viewing devices for the prey species whose vision is largely directed to the sides to allow them to more easily focus on a single?item in front of them like a t.v. or a computer monitor.
?
how about aquatic creatures?? would there be creatures with environments suits to keep them moist on the ground?
?
also different doors on balconies of apartments:? with bats and birds, a 20th floor balcony is as likely to be used for access as the one one on the ground floor or the hallway.? Climbers like mice and squirrels and chipmunks scampering up the outer wall too.
?
there would be a whole new kind of racism too, not to mention persecution complexes.? why hate someone for their religion or the colour of their skin when you can hate them because their ancestors *ATE* yours!?If there's no predition, would the more prolific breeders take over the world turning preditors into the subjugated minority?? Would eating someone be considered a crime if they were an ancestral prey species??
?
speaking of crime, you couldn't put a mouse?and a horse in the same jail cell, and weapons... well the taser designed to harmlessly bring down a rhino would fry a squirel like an egg.? The firearm that turns a rabbit into a wet stain on the wall would just irritate the elephant.
?
Customs and laws would be interesting, the body posture in a canid that means "lets play" in most felines means "fuck off or i'll hurt you bad."
?
wow, once i got on a roll it just spewed out.? I'll stop now.
