RE: [SkunkworksAMA] A question about Desiree

The fandom hasn't changed significantly since 1988, when I first contacted
it, it's just gotten bigger, and some of it's fringe elements have gotten
bigger, too. In 1988, people were arguing about the same things they argue
about now - porn, gays, fursuits, etc, etc.

Unlike Star Trek fans, we have no canon to appeal to. Furry fandom is what
furry fans do. There's nothing that says you have to like cub porn, porn in
general, fursuits, guns, werewolves, gays, etc, etc. As a gay man, I'm used
to being stereotyped. "You are gay, so you must be a liberal, and you must
be promiscuous", for example. I deal with it.

I hear how Desiree is ceasing her activities in the fandom, but what I
am unsure of the direction of the fandom is heading in. Where is the
fandom headed, and from what is it moving away from?
