The fandom is slowly starting to come into its own, with its own wants and
needs. We are now seeing conventions where they are opening up to the press
and also the public. Take the Rocky Mountain Fur Con, they run their Fur
suit Parade outdoors and through Denver's 16th St Mall (mush to the
amazement of the locals) Also what is helping now had been good press and
not sensationalistic press.

The fears, prejudices and limitations that we impose on ourselves must
someday pass, because they are not as real as hope, tolerance and
possibility. - Gene Roddenberry, Creator of "Star Trek"
