That is a CAKE!!! And as everybody knows, the cake is a LIE!!!!!
Alternatives exist of course. Yahoo Mail Plus is $19.99/year and their
spam filter sucks huge granite rocks through a wet paper straw. :) (My
Yahoo account spam filter has a 9% miss rate and a 12% false alarm rate
(Not-spam marked as spam) (I run ongoing statistics. :) ) while my Gmail
spam filter has a <1% miss rate and a <1% false alarm rate.
Only thing that Yahoo Mail Plus does extra is disposable addresses
(Yay! Trash Addies!) and live customer care. What it doesn't do is
unlimited filters, IMAP, filter-based forwarding, or a good job on spam
filtering.
GMail has had built-in free POP/IMAP access as well as Forwarding and
Collection capability for years. The access is Opt-In though, for
security. Plus since you POP it directly with a client like Thunderbird
(Or whatever you prefer), you don't have to worry about Becky! making
your attachments into Base64 files.
Sign in to GMail.
Settings (Top right)
Accounts tab for collection from other accounts via POP.
For Forwarding and POP/IMAP access... Well, if you can't guess that it's
the "Forwarding and POP/IMAP" tab, then you need to reconsider your
computer skill level. ;)
Gmail. It Doesn't Suck Like Everything Else.
