As some of you may have heard, the activation of the Russian Conficker Virus is set to activate midnight tonight (or so it is said). It's been around for a while already, but it's planning to give the full effect of Internet chaos... maybe... tonight. Why today of all days is beyond me. I heard this from several friend: not sure if it's an April Fool's joke, but I was pretty suspicious when I saw it on the news...
Due to this, I'll be unplugging my laptop from the ethernet cable for a while, until all this nonsense is proven false or the severity decreases. It's expected to affect 12+ million computers. It's already gotten into the defense systems of France, Germany and Britian, so who's to say our countries can be next.
I want to encourage others to do the same. I'm not trying to prevent everyone from the group, believe me (it's practically gonna be like stabbing my heart when I pull the cable). If not, I wish those of you luck. I'm sure most of you have a reliable and updated security software. Me?... Not so lucky lol. It's also rumored, by some, that the virus creators may wait until attention has died down, and then strike when nobody suspects it. We'll just keep our fingers crossed and hope they don't do anything stupid.
So during this time, I would like to say "ado." I may not be active for a while, but I will continue sketching and writing. If you want to contact me or whatnot, go ahead and email me on my blackberry: <author_x_at_vzw.blackberry.net>. Avoid sending any attachments during this time.
