Ch'marr's point was to 're-read' (manual spell check) or at least put the effort in to see what you've written makes sense. The group he moderates has some people who are actually dyslexic - and they often spell better and are easier to follow than people who are just lazy and don't make an effort. If I was quoting accurately, he wrote "If you can't be bothered to proof read your email before sending it, then why should I be bothered to read it before deleting it?" - Ch'marr.
And using Scrapper's addition "Check your references before you hit send". *cough*
To reply to your statement, everyone makes typos or gets words wrong, but putting the effort in to think about your reply - remember you are 'public speaking' - makes reading easier, improves communication and improves others perception of you.
Look at Jim's messages - he occasionally gets typos (as do I!) but is generally clearly written and easy to read. He justifies his points and explains his thoughts so we can see his viewpoint and share them too.
Scrapper, Black Dragon, write to improve other's knowledge or appreciation via information as opposed to just expressing an opinion.

The reason you should read a message even tho it may be misspelled is because there are those of us like me who are dysgraphic and cant spell our way out of a wet paper sack with a blowtorch and a broad sword to save our lives. That's why! (and yes spell check cant spell dysgraphic so if its misspelled who cares!)
