The fact that a wide range of subject matter
exists in "furry" art, (plus the artist's own
behavior), simply means that the "furry" genre
has become a successful art form - mimicking
what has already been done under the sun - in
other art forms.

Fine Art had roughly the same "problems";
Renaissance, Realism, Impressionism, Cubism,
(folks didn't know what to make of Picasso)-
all had problems at all levels of subject
matter and artist behavior.

Each new adventure in an art form subject matter,
(not to mention the artist's behavior - anyone
cut off an ear lately, or consume lsd?) - shocked,
dismayed, or reviled folks - in and out - of the
artistic community. Some new group was always
ruining it for everyone else, to the point where
the "old-timers" sat around and pined for the
"good-old-days" of the artist community.

Best way to handle it is to stick to what ya
like and ignore what ya don't like.

(However, If the oddballs get too annoying,
[or close] - then bite 'em. Just make sure
you have had your shots.) ;P
