I don't know Jim, if you want a "serious book on anthropomorphic
characters", people have been going nuts over Rukis' novels and comics.
I've been reading "Heretic", and while it doesn't really tickle my fancy,
it's a good read. There's still an element of sexuality, but it's more
focused on how "deviant" sexuality (such as homosexuality) is treated by a
"normal" religious majority.
There are still good things in the fandom, but as the median age has
dropped, it's become more and more buried.
