That population level will put a LOT less strain on the planet's resources to meet the demands of the population. I would expect that there would be more wilderness everywhere. In the 1600's and 1700's there were still places on the world that hadn't been explored yet. Massive wars could have left large areas of land uninhabited (and uninhabitable) for a considerable amount of time. If those places were left alone (for whatever reasons) they might be very different than people would expect. Maybe they were quarantined. Nobody get's in. Nobody gets out. Nobody tells the truth about what's inside of those areas. And bad things happen to people who do. There are secrets involving security and atrocities that governments would kill to protect. Explorers could be wanted people. Food for thought. :) It's almost 5 in the morning. My imagination is working. :)
