Oh my. All I can say is that sometimes a good file recovery program can help in a situation like that. You can still occasionally find a free one in the internet. I have knocked mu external hard drive onto the floor before while everything was turned off. That didn't help. The drive was physically damaged internally. There's no saving that unless an expert removes the platter and places it into a new hard drive. There are data recovery companies that will accept an arm and a leg to do that for you. :)
