Re: [SkunkworksAMA] Desiree Lee

Was reading the long list of email and wondering when someone would either remember that Cheetah has told us this previously or when he would get through his long list of email and remind everyone. :-)

The 'artist' Des Lee, is unquestionably James M. Hardiman. Whether there was a girl, whose name may or not have had any relation to the name Desiree Lee, is another question. Heaven forbid JMH may of had a girlfriend, who may have gone to a convention with him and decided it was full of 'weirdos' (not an unreasonable assumption from an outsider's perspective) and not wanted anything more to do with the fandom. Allowing most relationships last about 3~4 months (known as the 'lust' phase), their relationship could have run its natural course and they went their separate ways. As often the case, guys tend to remember things as being better than the girls did; Jim had liked what they had, and had a good memory - she had decided it was time to move on.

JMH was never keen on being photo'ed, so probably was conservative with taking pictures of his 'new girl', so may not have had a good pic to show.

So if there is an ex-girlfriend out there somewhere, whose features Jim used as the basis for the 'Desiree Lee artist', she probably neither knows nor concerned about Jim's fate.

It would have been awesome to watch JMH draw - I have watched a few artists at work who know there stuff (Tokes, Jenner) and it is both entertaining and inspiring. Cheetah is certainly blessed in having seen JMH at work, having had him as a friend and been involved with a talented man's life.

Scrapper, Black Dragon, who realises it is had see what you have until it is gone. :-(

Ok look. I've sat in Jims living room while he drew the des lee art. It was and alway will be his alt signature. Jim had a few of them. He needed another one for his traditional canvas work because he used his real name for the skunkworks stuff. You can sell someone a painting of a city and have them google your name to see skunk butt. And the des lee pseudonym was for the parody stuff. Just like Eric use to use TDK. But the fact you guys press this issue so hard is driving me nuts. Just let the man rest ffs. He was one of my best friends and it was insanely hard to lose him. Just let this damn subject move on.
