For me, Jim lives on in my artwork. He influenced me as an artist and as a person all the way back to when I first met him in 1999. I have a memorandum to him on all of my art sites, and I'm dedicating my first comic in his memory.

I also agree that YahooGroups is a big part of the equation. I don't know if there's a Skunkworks telegram group chat or not, but that could be a big option to carry this over into the next decade.
The art books and lack of transparency is a huge blow as well. It's frustrating to say the least because that was essentially a fan's last tether. It's definitely demoralizing. I think it's one of those situations where you have to unfortunately accept, but it doesn't mean that the torch can't be picked back up.

There are memories that can be remembered and retold about Jim and how he made life better through who he was as a person and an artist, and we were all fortunate to know him in some way. I loved how he could just draw sound effects in just the right font that would blast right across the page. The comic where one of the Skunkworks girls uses a switched-on microphone as a dildo, much to the horror of the audience, is just classic. X3
The thing is that I know Jim would want us to keep on enjoying life. If we got something out of his art, that was a bonus to him and his gratitude and humility were unmatched.

I think a lack of updates on the various JMH-related projects is a big part of the reason not many people are chatting it up here.
I don't disagree with you about Jim's absence killing the chat. But that shouldn't come as a surprise. After all, this group was started for him, and was about him and the works he created. Now that he's gone, folk are moving on. It may seem callous, but we can't dwell on the loss forever. We all miss him, and probably always will. And while carrying the torch for a fallen friend is a noble gesture, at some point our own lives take precedence.
Jim isn't forgotten. Not by a long shot. Cliche as it sounds, he will live on in the works he left behind, and in the memories of those he befriended and inspired.

In answer to how long does it take for you to be forgotten, I'd say four years has done it.
I've been on this group pretty much since the start, but even I haven't logged on to look at the group in over two months, and I'm supposed to be moderating.  This includes the entire month of the fourth anniversary of Jim's passing.

The artwork and compilations everyone claimed were so important to carry on JMH's memory have all but been abandoned and forgotten; if it is really important to you, you spend time doing it - if not, then you are kidding yourself of its importance.
Proves that JMH participating with the group very much made the centre of enjoyment and kept things interesting, versus just the posting of new art.
Appears the dust has settled and everyone has moved on - such is life.
Scrapper, Black Dragon, it was fun while it lasted.

If Angry Viking Press is not able to finish the task, I wonder if there is someone else out there who can?  Printing primarily, as there are sites such as Second Ed Mail Order,  Rabbit Valley and probably other small operators who would sell this sort of stuff, even if it were for limited release.

It would require someone with control of the artwork / publishing rights to be able to step in and take back the 'master' so it can be printed elsewhere.

Cheetah - do you know if Pauline Hardiman or Jim's brothers have rights control of the master?

If we can get control of the master, it can then be arranged to printed, etc.

Scrapper, Black Dragon, a project is a problem scheduled for solution.

Which really sucks for those of us who backed the original AVP
kickstarter way back when.
