It was proposed ages ago to move to Google Groups or what ever alternate system, but the main question to be asked is what real benefit is it going to provide?
Most of us don't have time to chat (hence email getting answered randomly), Y! already offers that feature (of which I have disabled on my account), so not sure how it will really benefit. People usually have some messenger service and can contact each other directly if they want. Having the delay of email can improve quality of what may be written - maybe thinking or rereading before hitting send (though we all don't from time to time...), where as chat tends to be filled with tweet sized junk.
You're welcome to start another group, but I'm not sure it will attract a following. It also won't have the history or posts created by JMH that are contained here. Participation in a known location will be more useful than diversifying.
Scrapper, Black Dragon, if I'm terminalling in to fix a multi-million dollar business's primary file server, I'm not about to have a text chat!

Telegram is a chat service kind of like Skype or AOL instant messenger, only with more features and security.
People can create private groups, and chat in real time, share pictures and links, as well as "stickers", which are glorified smiles.
It's replaced services like AIM and Skype, and has a lot of moderation features to cut down on the trolling and lawlessness that destroyed AOL.

I'm sure others are probably wondering too - so what is a Telegram group?
How will it be different or better than this Y! group?
Scrapper, Black Dragon, just as long as there is good reason and not just for change's sake.
