On Group.IO I didn't see a way of bringing messages across with the 'manual' option, but that could be "not looking hard enough". The free group option was effectively starting again - part of the thing that we want (I presume others want this....) is the preservation of JMH's posts - that little insight we had into the creator of the art. The pictures and files are easy enough, but it is the ~30k messages that are a bit harder.
This group will continue to exist as a mail relay, giving the option to send/reply/save messages if and when it suits them. There is no benefit to starting another group such as Telegram, it's either important and you talk with someone, or it's not and it can wait in email. Members can instant message each other if they really want to. Some of us are on the other side of the planet and 'chatting' just isn't convenient.
If you find the relevant part for manual migration that will bring messages, I will look into it.
Scrapper, Black Dragon, ultimate goal will clarify the path forward.

Well, that's for the automated migration. Doing it manually is free.
