Since this is posted to the group files section, and not an
attachment, this is not a valid argument. Other than
(possibly) bogging down your mail client (and the other
limitations you described) with an attachment, posting to
the files section so those who want to see it can do so, is
the correct way to manage group files.
Your browser is quite capable of opening HTML (since most
the web pages are written in it!) hence opening the file
directly from the files section, or saving it to disk then
opening it with the browser will allow the reader to see
correct formatting and fonts etc. HTML is larger than a
text file (though not by much), but markedly smaller than
Word DOC files. It is also readable by everyone who has a
web browser (and many word processors), hence for
presentation for space and compatability, HTML is the
preferred format.
