For some reason, a lot of older teachers are like that. They teach
you that writing with the right hand is the 'correct' way whether or
not you're naturally a left or a righty. I'm in my late 20's, and
when I was in elementary school (at a Catholic school, no less)
despite being a clear lefty they made me learn to write with my right
hand. And now I'm more or less ambidextrous (and my handwriting sucks
with either hand).
