I've been frequenting Lulz for well over a year now, and I've been
pirating works, Jim's included, for even longer. I know I'm just
speaking for myself here, but the more I pirated Jim's stuff, the more
I was interested in buying some of his newer, higher-quality work. One
of the side-effects of retiring from the furry spotlight is that
people tend to forget about you, in lieu of artists that keep up a
steady pace with their artwork. Seeing those pirated works again
reminded me how much I enjoyed the style of the art and the
aggressively-slutty vibe from the characters. I would even go as far
to say that with these new Hardiman threads that keep on popping up on
there, it's driving more people, not just me, to check out the group
and become interested in buying some of Jim's art. Of course, the
majority of the people on Lulz wouldn't buy it one way or another. But
the publicity does help.
The "Pumped Works" and other joke pics were cute, but I think by now
people are getting tired of waiting, and for many people that interest
in the new stuff has turned negative, ie all of the "Des isn't real"
posts and such; or they are amused at the attention the joke pics have
been getting over the past few months, with little to nothing to show
for it in the way of actually new content, and poke fun at the
incredulity of the situation. I honestly think it's getting past the
"Put Up or Shut Up" stage here.
